September 19th - Santa Fam Dam Recreation Area

Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area is a Los Angeles County Department of Recreation and Parks area which is partly comanaged by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The recreation area is located in the town of Irwindale which is a north east subburb of Los Angeles. To the north are the San Bernardino mountains. Santa Fe offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities and in fact, I was able to jog off some of the days on the road at the park and enjoyed the scenery greatly.

I also had the pleasure of meeting with representatives from the Department of Recreation as well as with The Friends of Santa Fe Dam to present a $1000 grant. They will use this grant to buy much needed plants for their upcoming event. The National Public Lands Day Program is promoting more urban involvement and will continue to actively recruit more city park systems to participate in National Public Lands Day events. If you fall under one of those catagories, please contact our offices at 202-262-6462. Thanks!
